Harmonium is a sound therapy application that incorporates the natural rhythms of the moon and the sea.

Feature

Harmonium generates soothing sounds based on the moon's astronomical data (e.g., phase and distance from Earth) and weather predictions (e.g., atmospheric pressure and tide levels). These sounds include ocean waves, animal noises, rainfall, thunderstorms, and a piano tuned to 432 Hz.

The app leverages research in brain science indicating a relaxation response when brainwaves oscillate between 8 to 13 Hz. By inducing Brainstem Frequency Following Response (FFR), Harmonium aims to synchronize users' brainwaves with frequency-guided sounds at either 432Hz or 528Hz based on the moon's position. The app dynamically adjusts these frequencies to mimic the ebb and flow of tides, guiding brainwaves towards approximately 7.83Hz.

Harmonium aims to immerse users in the natural cadence of their surroundings.

Function

  • Concentration: Exclusive playback of ocean wave sounds (45 min), offering 24 distinct ocean soundscapes.
  • Relaxation: Ocean wave sounds enhanced with FFR-guided sounds (30 min).
  • Sleep: A comprehensive mix of ocean waves, wildlife noises, rainy weather sounds, felt piano melodies, and FFR guidance sounds (60 min). The FFR guidance sound switches between 528 Hz and 432 Hz as the moon's proximity to Earth fluctuates. Additionally, the app aligns FFR guidance with target EEG frequencies during tidal changes.

Notes

Harmonium uses specialized Frequency Following Response sounds (similar to binaural beats). Users are advised against using the app if they have a history of epileptic seizures, heart conditions, pacemaker use, are driving any vehicle or machinery, or are under 12 years old. Discontinue use if any discomfort arises.

Subscription Pricing and Terms

Upon initial installation, Harmonium offers a free 3-day trial period. Subsequently, users can purchase a subscription that includes another 3-day trial option. Cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends avoids charges. If not cancelled, a paid subscription will commence after the free trial expires, charging the iTunes account.

Auto-renewal can be disabled in Apple ID settings anytime post-purchase. No refunds are issued once a subscription payment is processed following trial expiration. The free trial is limited to first-time users without availability for subsequent trials.
